The function of teaching media generally as follow:
1. To clear the material up in order not to be so verbal that student can easily catch the explanation
2. To overcome the limitation of time and sense
3. To attract student attention to follow the lecture
4. To grow student spirit up
5. To enable direct interaction between students and environment
6. To enable student to learn by himself based on has capability and intention
7. To make similar between experience and students perception in receiving message
Based on the limitation above, it can be defined that teaching media is something which can be used to deliver message of education from sender or (teacher) to receiver (student). It must be able to stimulate student thought, feel, attention, and intention in order to have teaching and learning process with enable students in understanding message of education. Those are the function of teaching of teaching media. How about the advantages?
Theoretically,
The use of teaching media in learning process is to improve the quality of student achievement. In order words, it becomes more effective, interactive, and efficient. Practically, teaching media which is taken from both old and new technology doesn’t mean to make learning process be less humanistic. However, it becomes something positive in contrast as long as the learning process still uses the humanism approach. Psychologically learning is a complex and unique process. Complex means that all aspects of learning like personality, physical, and mental are included. Unique means that each learning has different caused of different human being such as objective, talent, ability, intellectual, and type of study technologically, the advance of knowledge and technology enable many kinds of media accurate such as photo, slide, film, computer, tape recorder, etc. All those technology advise can be used to succed learning process.
